Quinteto Latino

Quinteto Latino is a regionally and nationally recognized classical wind ensemble based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Founded in 2004 by philanthropist and musician, Armando Castellano, we exist to disrupt long-standing racial and cultural disparities within the classical music field and drive this change by championing past, present, and future musical contributions by Latino composers and musicians. Since our founding, we have grown into a hub for Activism, Education, and Performance. We also record and perform throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.

Quinteto Latino’s debut CD was released in 2011, “Cien Años de Música Mexicana para Quinteto de Alientos/100 Years of Mexican Music for Wind Quintet.” In October 2013, QL hosted a Festival of Latin American Chamber Music, which involved concerts; community events in four San Francisco Bay Area cities where over 100 students and 17 professional chamber musicians, composers and musicologists participated. The quintet has performed all over the greater San Francisco Bay Area as well as in New York, Oklahoma, Virginia, Iowa, Illinois, Maryland and Connecticut. QL has been a featured showcase ensemble at Chamber Music America’s annual conferences.
